余象斗《水浒志传评林》评点与插图关系探微

摘 要

明代书坊主余象斗所刊刻的双峰堂刻本《水浒志传评林》首创了“评林体”,形成“上评中图下文”体式。本文重点探究插图在文本、评点之间的走向趋势,创造性地提出并分析插图存在评点倾向。利用图评对照方式,全面解读人物的塑造批评、情节的提炼批评与主旨的突出批评等方面,总结出余氏插图存在着鲜明的评点倾向。同时,采用横纵向对比手法,横向比较余本、容本、袁本《水浒传》插图与评点的关系,纵向比照余氏各“评林本”,发现插图呼应评点之批评形态为余氏“评林体”所独有。为此,探究插图的评点倾向根源,认识到余象斗之主观行为与“评林体”之客观体式的促使作用。

A STUDY ON ILLUSTRATIONS TENDING TO COMMENTS IN

YU XIANGDOU’S “COMMENTS ON THE WATER MARGIN”

Abstract

“Comments on the Water Margin” is a block-printed edition from Shuangfeng Tang , which was created by Yu Xiangdou, a bookstore owner in the Ming dynasty. This edition added a large amount of comments for the first time, thus created a new format as comments locate on the top, illustrations in the middle and text at the bottom on a page. Here, exploring whether illustrations go after the comments is the most important issue, and we find that illustrations are indeed affected by comments. By comparing illustrations with comments, we learn about the character description, the plot abstraction, the main purpose emphasis and so on. Therefore, we conclude that Yu’s illustrations are evidently inclined to express the significance of the comments. Besides, according to the different relationships between illustrations and comments in various editions from Shuangfeng Tang, Rongyu Tang and Yuan Wuya, as well as by the reference to different editions from Shuangfeng Tang, we finally find that it is the only case that illustrations echo with comments in Yu’s editions. Then, there are two reasons: in one way, Yu Xiangdou’s subjective behavior make the connection between illustrations and comments when printing; in another way, the new format make the interaction between illustrations and comments more possible.

第一章 绪 论

本论文以余象斗《水浒志传评林》为研究对象,重点探讨该版本插图存在评点倾向。此问题的产生在于《水浒志传评林》独创“评林体”体式,即余象斗集插图与评点于文本之中,形成了上评、中图、下文的版式。那么插图夹于评点与文本之间,与两者密不可分,其在游离于文本与评点之态下,是否明显产生倾向于评点的走向趋势且这种倾向产生的根本原因是什么,这是本论文所要重点探究分析的。
