There are many people provided help to me in the process of completing this paper. And I need to send my sincere thanks for them.

In the first place, I’m very grateful for everything my adviser did. From I decided the topic to list the outline and modified my paper again and again, my adviser, Jiang Ping, pointed out me mistakes and shortcomings patiently every time. Undoubtedly, without her strict, patient, instruction, this paper will not be well completed.

Secondly, I would like to thank my parents and friends for their supports. In my spare time, my parents and friends would communicate with me about problems in the paper and help me to vent my frustration. In order to make me focus on paper writing, my parents just told me good things when I asked them about their recent situation. Besides, my gratitude also goes to my friends who accompanied me to collect materials and information and stay up late with me. Because of their assistances, I could do better for the paper.

Abstract: With the development of international communication, oral-English ability has revealed extraordinary significance in the modern society. However, our college students’ oral-English are far from satisfaction, because of the influence of our Mother Tongue. The thesis introduces the definition and some transfer theories. And then it makes an empirical survey on the transference of Mother Tongue in college oral English teaching. After integrating and analyzing the data, the thesis discusses the negative and positive transference of Mother Tongue in English vocabulary, grammar, intonation and stress. In order to enhance college students’ English proficiency and promote the positive development of oral English teaching, some suggestions on how to overcome the negative transfer and make full use of the positive transfer are also made by author herself, although these suggestions have yet to be proved in practice.

摘要:随着现代社会国际交流的逐渐频繁,英语口语能力已经显露出非比寻常的作用与影响力。然而,受自身母语习惯的影响,中国大学生的英语口语能力并不乐观。本篇论文简要介绍了母语迁移的定义以及有关迁移理论,并针对母语在大学英语口语教学中的迁移现象进行了问卷调查。经过整合与分析数据,文章从正负迁移两个方面,论述了母语在英语单词,语法,语音、语调以及重音等方面的具体的影响。并且,文章还就如何克服母语负迁移、充分利用其正迁移,最大程度地提升中国大学生英语口语水平,促进英语口语教学的正向发展等问题,提出了自己的看法和建议,尽管这些看法还有待于在实践中作进一步验证。

  1. Introduction

Since China joins into the WTO, it has been open wider to the outside world. The economic and trade links between China and the world have improved immensely. With the enhancement of our national power, the international communication has become more frequent than before. Therefore, the position of English is becoming increasingly conspicuous. As the leading international language, English plays a decisive role in China's external exchanges, and a fluent English speaking skill is considered as an essential stepping stone on the road to success. However, influenced by their Mother Tongue, our college students’ oral English are far from satisfied, and the researches on transference of Mother Tongue begin to arouse great attention.
