Under his sincere and intellectual guidance, I have finished my paper. Then, I will give my thanks to my kind and enthusiastic classmates. They always support and help me when I meet infrastructure and obstruction. We spent four years together and went through the joys and sorrows in the college. We have deep feelings and such emotion will stay in our memory. I learn a lot from them and improve myself to a great extent.

Besides, my appreciation goes to my beloved family. I am really grateful to my parents for their selfish contribution and silent support. They spare no efforts to help me and trust me. Abstract: Jane Austen was an outstanding writer in the 19th century. Because of Jane’s family background, social life and educational level, the characters in her novels are almost young gentlemen and ladies who look for their love and spouse. Her work style is relaxing, humorous and full of comic conflict. The theme of her novels is about love and marriage. In the novel Sense and Sensibility, the two sisters Elinor and Marianne are the main female character. And the author delineates the love and marriage story of Miss Dashwood. The two girls’ characters are in opposition. Elinor is a sensible, calm and thoughtful lady, while Marianne is sensitive, romantic and energetic. As for love and marriage, they hold different opinions. Jane Austen also describes the other two sisters Lucy and Anne. They both have different characters and destinies. Because the main female characters in the novel are of different character, their destinies are not the same. In this paper, we mainly focus on the comparative study on the main female’s characters and their destinies.

The paper is made up of four chapters: Chapter One is the introduction, which presents the background information of the author, the society of that moment and the novel. Chapter Two analyzes the characters and destinies of the main female characters in detail. Chapter is the contrast of the four female protagonists. Chapter four is the conclusion, giving a brief summary to the whole paper.

摘要：简·奥斯汀是19世纪杰出的作家。受简·奥斯汀家庭环境、社会生活和教育水平的影响，她小说中的人物主要是追寻爱情伴侣的年轻绅士和小姐。她的作品格调轻松诙谐，富有戏剧性冲突。奥斯汀小说的主题是爱与婚姻。在《理智与情感》一书中，姐妹俩埃莉诺和玛丽安是主要女性人物。作者描述了达什伍德小姐们的爱情婚姻故事。姐妹俩性格不同，埃莉诺是一位理智、冷静聪慧的淑女，而玛丽安情感丰富，浪漫，充满热情。对于爱情婚姻，她们有不同的想法。简·奥斯汀还描写了另一对姐妹露西和安妮。她们有着不同性格和命运。小说中，主要女性人物的性格截然不同，她们的命运也不相同。本篇论文主要对女主人公的性格与命运进行对比研究。

文章分为四个章，第一章是引言，介绍作者、社会环境和小说的基本信息。第二章对比分析研究主要女性人物的命运与性格。第三章是四位女性主人公之间的对比分析。第四章结论部分，对全文进行总结。
