浅析新媒体英译汉新闻的翻译特征--以社交网络微博为例

摘 要

近年来,以网络为载体的信息传播方式在人们日常生活中逐渐扮演起重要的角色。一方面,与报纸、广播、电视等传统媒体相比,基于网络的新兴媒体在向受众推广信息方面有着良好的渠道优势。另一方面,随着网络在全球范围内的日益发展,新闻传播的时效性与网络的便捷性紧密契合,世界各地的新闻可以很快地上载到网络上。因此网络无疑成为了国际新闻传播的重要途径。

就国内而言,新媒体的发展方兴未艾。而社交网络微博这一网络平台更是为新媒体提供了广阔的成长空间。由于国内网络较为封闭,具有特殊性。很多国外的即时新闻国内大众无法直接获取,需要借助众多新媒体的翻译方可广泛传播。因此,研究社交网络下的新媒体新闻的英译汉有着重要的意义。

本文以微博上新媒体翻译的国外新闻文本作为研究对象。由于这些文本的翻译是翻译这一活动在新媒体的运用,因此,这一翻译活动必然具有传统新闻翻译的特点,受传统翻译理论、原则的制约;同时受限于140字,其具有自己的独特之处。本文试图指出新媒体新闻翻译的特点,归纳其翻译方式以及独有的特征。此外,指出现今新媒体新闻翻译存在的缺陷和不足,并尝试提出解决方式。

Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Research Background

In recent years, the rapid development of multi-platform of the Internet not only provides more channels for people to access information, but also brings news consumption into a new competitive battlefield that is much more intense and complex than traditional news era. It can be estimated that new media will surely become an important field of people’s external communication.

In terms of China, new media is growing rapidly. On the other hand, time has witnessed us making the entrance into the era of “Weibo”. It is a kind of Chinese version of Twitter or Facebook. In 2009, Sina began to develop Weibo and the number of users was increasing continuously in recent years. It gives a great opportunity to new media based on the Internet. However, due to the special and increasing burden of the environment of China’s Internet, people in China can not acquire information directly form overseas. As a result, we need news translation activities to help us keep in touch with the whole world.

This thesis takes Weibo E-C news translation as the object of study. While it is the application of the traditional translation activity on the new media, it must be confined and governed by traditional translation theories and principles, as well as bear its unique features.

1.2 Objective and Significance of the Present Thesis

Nowadays, the service and application of Weibo is developing. Therefore, Weibo is an important channel for people to acquire information and share lives. In 2015, topic discussion of global news and hot events pushed Weibo to reach peak stage, which were participated in and followed by even millions of people. Meanwhile, in today’s new media era, Weibo becomes a platform for marketing and promotion themselves by different news media. Moreover, because of the special environmental of China’s Internet, it is disputable that Weibo can be treated as the most important social platform. This thesis takes Weibo E-C news translation as the object of study. This thesis not only can enrich the research results of news translation, but also has profound guiding significance for the development of new media. Besides, this thesis is also a product of multi-disciplinary integration. This study takes translation theories as the main research method, and some knowledge related to communication will be used as the assisted study method. Last but not least, Weibo is the reflection of times and society. Target texts from Weibo must be marked with the stamps of the times. This study carries the features of this new media era.

1.3 Structure of the Thesis

This paper consists of six chapters. Chapter one gives a general introduction of the background, objectives and the whole structure of the thesis. Chapter two reviews the literature of news translation, with the first two parts focusing on foreign studies and domestic studies on news translation. Besides, the meaning of Weibo and new media will also be discussed. Chapter three mainly concentrates on Characteristics of target texts on Weibo and detailed studies are conducted in chapter four by discussing common translation approaches adopted in translating. Chapter five will try to figure out the problems that exist in news translation and some solutions may be discussed. The last chapter presents the major findings and implications of the thesis, and also points out limitations of the study and puts forwards suggestions for further study.
