Conversion of Part of Speech in English-Chinese Translation Based on English Text for Postgraduate Admission Examination

Abstract: Translation is a cross-cultural communication by which the two different cultural meanings can be transported. Fundamentally speaking, translation is a transformation in the form of language. It is very important that the translators first get to understand the meaning of the original expressions and then express the same meaning in the target language so that the translation will be more understandable and smooth. This paper explores the conversion of part of speech in English-Chinese Translation based on the translation text for Postgraduate Admission Examination. Besides, it also analyzes some characteristics and techniques of part of speech conversion in English-Chinese translation, which can help to improve the translation of practical activities and improve the translation quality so that the original information can be more accurately and effectively accepted.

摘要：翻译是跨文化交际，通过这种交流可以传递两种不同的文化意义。从根本上说，翻译是语言形式的转变。为了使翻译顺利，易于理解，翻译者必须揭示源语言的意义，然后用目标语言来表达原本的意思。本文以考研英语文本为例探讨了英汉翻译中词性转换的技巧。另外，作者还分析了英汉翻译词性转换的特点和技巧，有助于改进实际翻译，提高翻译质量，从而更准确有效地接受原始信息。

1. Introduction

English is part of Indo-European language, while Chinese is part of Chinese-Tibetan language, so English and Chinese languages have many differences in language structure. Therefore, English-Chinese translation cannot follow the form of the original language, but accurately reproduce the original information under the premise of some of the original information in the flexible conversion of the target language in part of speech and then translation activities can carry on effectively. During the process of different language and cultural exchanges, the most direct and effective way is to translate. In English-Chinese translation, it is particularly important to master the conversion skills between the two languages. As the English and Chinese languages are influenced by different modes of thinking and related social backgrounds, people who grow in different cultural backgrounds usually encounter some difficulties in translation practice. Therefore, this paper attempts to explore the conversion of part of speech in English-Chinese translation based on the translation text for Postgraduate Admission Examination so as to achieve the purpose of accurate and effective translation.
