1.Introduction

English is most commonly used as an international language in communication. With the development of China and the promotion of education, more and more Chinese start to learn English. It is necessary for English learners to be able to speak English fluently. English has become an important part of our life. Given that China is a country with oversized population and vast territory, people in different areas of China have different problems in speaking English correctly. English phonetic teaching is the start of the whole development of English teaching, and neglect of analysis of Chinese speech leads to bad effects on English phonetic teaching (刘莎,2012) . So more attention should be paid to dialects in order to make right pronunciations. This paper will first analyze the influence of Dialects in North and South China on the English accent of Chinese EFL students and make a comparison between their effects. The causes of the influence of dialects on Chinese EFL students’ English accent will also be discussed and possible solutions will be put forward.
