Abstract

In order to solve the problem of energy consumption and environmental pollution, transportation as the main contributor of greenhouse gas emissions this year alone. On the basis of "technological optimism", Many countries chose to introduce the high-speed rail as an opportunity, and they hope high-speed rail can shift fossil fuels intensive traffic system and promote the whole transportation system sustainable development. This essay based on the life cycle assessment, and only selects the operation and maintenance phase to study the impact of high-speed rail and other transport modes on the environment in a competitive environment. This essay will the Beijing-shanghai high-speed railway through the area as a starting point is in Beijing, Shanghai for the transport of a duopoly market. And in this area only has one high-speed rail carriers and airlines operating company in the management of the transportation market, and then establish the monopoly model. The analysis of high speed rail and air under the condition of competition, the substitution effect and the induced demand effect generated by the impact on the environment. The results show that under the competition conditions，the introduction of high-speed really contributed to the local pollution level, but for greenhouse gas emissions, the result of a competition for its shows obvious slowing effect. At the same time the influence of high-speed rail on the environment depends on two aspects. First, the proportion of social welfare in the high iron profits, the higher the proportion is, the more obvious the substitution effect is. Instead, the effect of substitution effect and the induced demand effect accounted for the proportion of the total high-speed railway passenger flow, and the substitution effect was greater than the induced demand effect. In competition mode in this paper, through the research of high speed rail and air impact on the environment, its purpose is in order to puts forward relevant suggestions according to the competition game problem, more conducive to the sustainable development of the whole transportation system.
